Why Can't I Use Items Against Curses?

I've only been playing for about a week or two (full team of lv 100, woot!), and I've defeated almost every Gym Leader and Elite Four member....except Volkner and his gosh darn curse Pokemon. There's a problem that I'm starting to wonder if it's a glitch to overcome or if it's supposed to be this way.

Every time in a battle against Volkner's curses, when I try to use a potion or a heal, I get a message that I "can't catch this Pokemon without shadow balls, which can be purchased with shadow points."

Erm...I distinctly clicked "full potion" not "poke ball." I'm not trying to catch his stupid Misdreavus or whatever, I'm trying to keep my Leafeon from fainting.

The same message comes up when battling against wild curses. Can someone explain why the game thinks I'm trying to use a Pokeball when I try to use a potion? Or, again, is it supposed to be this way?

I believe this has always been a glitch with the game since curse pokemon were released. Some people have mentioned it but nothing has been done about it.

Maybe the admin will fix it now that you have reported it!
